Ben Johnson passed away on March 27, 2023 at age 87. The Funeral Service, conducted by Pastor Jon Shonebarger, is 11 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2023 at Temple Baptist Church (211 Coles Ferry Pike) Lebanon TN. Interment in Wilson County Memorial will follow the service. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. The family will be receiving friends at Temple Baptist Church on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m.
Ben Davis Johnson was born in Tuscumbia AL to Cora G. Davis Johnson and Willie E. Johnson. He served in the United States Army before pursuing his other loves, as a millwright and a musician. He owned Lebanon Transmission Service and Bee Sharp Music. Ben played guitar and mandolin with the bluegrass band, Tennessee Tradition. He was the MC at Ralph Sloan Days.
Mr. Johnson is survived by wife Mary Johnson; children: Dinisha (Wayne) Smith, Maranda “Randi” (Chuck) Walker, and Ben Davis (Jamie) Johnson II; grandchildren: Jessica (Rick) Baird, Rebekkah (Skylar) Davis, Cori (Ariel) Walker, Jacob (Marlee) Walker, Sam Walker, James Horn, Megan (Joseph) Rowland, and Michelle Johnson; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother: Glenn (Lynn) Johnson. He is preceded in death by parents Cora and Willie Johnson.
