Belinda Gail Young, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023, at the age of 69. Born on February 23, 1954, in North Carolina, Belinda was a beacon of kindness and warmth to all who knew her.
Belinda moved to Huntsville, where she quickly became a beloved member of the community. For many years, she served as the manager of the Thirsty Turtle, a local gathering place that benefited greatly from her friendly demeanor and gentle spirit. Her laughter and welcoming nature turned first-time guests into regulars and colleagues into lifelong friends.
Despite her North Carolina roots, Belinda was an avid Auburn fan, her passion for the team only rivaled by her love for the beach. She cherished her trips to Gulf Shores, where she found joy in the sun, the sand, and the soothing rhythm of the waves. These simple pleasures were the backdrop to a life lived with an open heart and an enduring smile.
Belinda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Timothy Young, whose memory she held close to her heart. Her love for Timothy was a testament to the deep bonds of companionship and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of loss. The couple shared many happy years together, united by love, laughter, and their shared enthusiasm for Alabama sports.
She is survived by her close friends, Harold and Michelle Motter, who were more like siblings to her. Their unwavering support and shared memories are a comfort to all as they remember Belinda’s boundless generosity and friendship. Her fur baby, Ziggy the miniature poodle, also survives her. Ziggy was a source of constant joy and companionship for Belinda, and her care for him reflected the immense capacity for love that she carried within her.
Words such as friendly and gentle only begin to describe Belinda. Her presence was a gift to those who had the pleasure of knowing her, and her impact on the community was profound. She approached life with an open heart, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand, embodying the very essence of southern hospitality.
The void left by Belinda’s passing will be deeply felt by her friends, family, and all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her. Her spirit, however, will continue to inspire and guide those she loved. As the sun sets over the shores of Gulf Shores, we imagine her at peace, her laughter carried on the breeze, reminding us to cherish the beauty in every moment.
Belinda Gail Young’s life was a testament to the power of friendship, the strength of community, and the enduring nature of love. As we bid her farewell, we take solace in the memories we shared and the knowledge that her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Belinda will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine brightly, guiding us through the days ahead.
