Becky Ann Powell, 70, of Sumiton, was born March, 12,1954 to parents Horace & Magdalene Phillips of the Dilworth community. On October,3,2024 , while surrounded by her family, she went peacefully when the Angels called her home. Mrs. Powell was a graduate of Dora High school, Class of 1972. She was married to the love of her life, Rickey, on February,17,1973. Together they had children, Amy & Andy. Mrs. Powell had a true servants heart. She spent 20+ years as the Christmas play coordinator, vacation Bible school director,& Sunday school teacher at Dilworth Freewill Baptist. She was a school bus driver, and worked in the lunchroom at Sumiton Christian School. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her courageous battle against brain cancer. She was proof, it’s not over until God says it’s over. Although she spent 2? years bound by the effects of cancer,her faith never wavered. She was just “fine”, as she would often say. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Horace & Magdalene Phillips,Her husband Rickey Powell, in laws, Lelton & Wilma Powell, sister in law Robbie Williams & niece Heather Phillips. Please remember those she leaves behind in your prayers. Daughter, Amy Jones (Jason) son, Andy Powell (Amanda). Her beloved grandchildren, Hunter Freeman(Taylor), Cayla Scott (John),Taylor Hanlin (Clay), Mollie Freeman,Victoria Powell, Aubrey Parker, Adaline Henderson, Asher Blackmon & great grandson River Zain. Her siblings, Terry, Charles, David and Tommy Phillips,Linda stacks,Irene Davenport,Teresa Bland. Brother in law, Steve Powell (Cindy) & a host of nieces, nephews & other relatives. The family would like to thank Melissa Hallman & Encompass Health for the exceptional care they gave during this time. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, October 6th at New Life Christian Assembly. Family will visit at the church from 12pm-1pm and Friends are welcome from 1pm-2pm. Service will begin at 2pm with burial to follow at New Horizon Memorial Gardens.
