On March 22, 2024, Beatrice Hays passed away peacefully at the age of 94 with family
by her side. She has been reunited in Heaven with her husband of sixty-six years, Carl,
and her only child, Steve, her sister Helen, father “AP”, and mother “Jeannie”. Bea, or
Granny Bea as she was known by many, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother of
four, great-grandmother of six, and surrogate grandmother to many more. After moving
to Albertville from Clanton, Alabama, in the early 1990s to be closer to their
grandchildren, Bea and Carl joined the First Presbyterian Church of Albertville where
they were active members.
Bea was a wonderful baker, and over the years many enjoyed one of the sweet treats
she loved to make to share for special occasions and holidays, like the meticulously
crafted goodies for her grandchildren’s class parties, made from scratch pound cake,
banana pudding, and peach cobbler, to name a few.
Bea is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mavis Hays, grandchildren, Kathryn Elmore
(Raunaq), Chase Elmore (Tricia), Ashley Hays Bice, Stephanie Pfeiffer (Jonathan), and
great-grandchildren, Joia Pfeiffer, Ace Bice, Taylor Elmore, Ellison Pfeiffer, Lyles
Elmore, and Beckett Pfeiffer. A celebration of Bea’s life is scheduled for Saturday,
March 23 at 2pm at the Guntersville Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Crestview
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made in Bea’s memory to
Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
