Beamon Adrian Smith – Obituary

Beamon Adrian Smith, age 89, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., passed away Friday, May 17, 2013. He was a native of Lawrence County and lived most of his life in Loretto, Tenn. He served as president of the 483rd AAA, AWBN 11 consecutive years. He was a charter member of American Legion of Loretto Post 145. He joined the American Legion in Lawrenceburg, Post 3, the day after returning from World War II. He was an active member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church for 37 years and held every office except preacher, deacon and treasurer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Sibyle Mabe Smith, his parents, BFL Smith and Mattie Downs Smith, four brothers, Ted Smith, Charles B. Smith, Marvin Smith and Ian Smith, three sisters, Sanoma Gray, Alberta Brown and Hettie Brown.
He is survived by two sons, Phil A. Smith (Donna), of Lexington, Ala., and Keith L. Smith (Pam), of Loretto, Tenn.; and two daughters, Dian Smith Ezell (Billy), of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Hilda Smith Long (Cliff), of Shenandoah, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Tina Ezell Nelson (John), Traci Ezell McFall (Daniel), Lara Smith Kolmetz (Adam), Dana Smith, Neda Smith Johns (Clint), Kristopher Smith, Jonathan Smith, Jeremy Long and Brett Long; eight great-grandchildren also survive.; one sister, Ruby Smith Davis, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; and one sister-in-law, Viola Henson Smith, of Bellevue, Mich. A host of nieces and nephews survive.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Loretto Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services for Beamon A. Smith will be conducted Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Loretto Memorial Chapel, with John Blair and Paul Monk officiating. Donations may be sent to the American Legion or charity of your choice .
