Barney Louis McMahan was born July 28, 1925 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Fannie Valeria Minton McMahan.
He was united in marriage to Essie Dillon on August 23, 1947.
Mr. McMahan loved the country life, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a hard-core-Ford driving-Southern Democrat. He loved attending the fish fry at Sulphur Springs Fire Department, gardening, raising cattle and driving around on his Kawasaki mule. He loved talking to people and in his family words, “He never met a stranger.”
Mr. McMahan departed this life on December 17, 2015 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 90 Years, 4 Months, 19 Days. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Essie McMahan of Pocahontas, TN; two daughters, Carolyn Waller of Lavinia, TN, Theresa McCullar and husband Dennis of Pocahontas, TN; a son, Donald McMahan of Memphis, TN; four grandchildren, Amy Soltys and husband Jeff, Kelly Ellison and husband Kip, Denessa Mitchell and husband Adam, Cody McMahan; five great grandchildren, Elijah and Evan Soltys, Nick and Mikayla Ellison, Kinsley Hart.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McMahan was preceded in death by three sisters, Ellie McCalip, Annie McMahan, Mary Waldrop; six brothers, Carl, Elmer, Tommy, Otis, Buford, and Elby McMahan.
