Barbra Delores “Dee” Moss Harris
January 27, 1945 – September 7, 2015
At 1:00 A.M. of September 7, Barbra Delores “Dee” Moss Harris passed away, comforted by family members at Huntsville Hospital. Barbra was 70 years old.
Barbra was born January 27, 1945 in Independence, VA. She was the first child of Dewey Clyde and Velma Bennett Moss, and sister to Daphne Jo Moss Moon.
She grew up in Bland, VA until the family moved to Huntsville, AL in 1958. In 1963 she graduated from S. R. Butler High School.
Barbra dreamed of teaching English and mathematics, but her college education at Lee College in Cleveland, TN was cut short due to illness.
In 1966 she married Arlon Richard Moss of Sand Mountain, AL. Together they had two children.
Barbra wed Albert Leon Harris in 1981 and with him had her third child in 1988.
Mrs. Harris was a faithful Christian and was known to show kindness and generosity to those in need, especially children. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and had a fondness for animals.
Late in life, her penchant for math and logic remained as she would work through books of Sudoku and other puzzles from her hospital bed.
Barbra was preceded in death by Dewey Clyde Moss, Velma Bennett Moss, Arlon Richard Moss, and Albert Leon Harris.
Barbra is survived by her sister, Daphne Jo Moss Moon, and her children, Laura Joan Moss, Dewey Richard Moss, and Jennifer Mahala Elizabeth Harris Power, and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home
