Barbara Sue Gean, 70, of Waterloo, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at her home. She was retired from the Lauderdale County School System. Barbara was a member of the Waterloo Church of Christ.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be Carl Williams, Mackie Gean, Barry McFall, and Tim McFall.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Ray and Nollie Ward Ford.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Gean; sons, Kyle Gean (Ashley) and Kirby Gean (Sue Ellen); daughter, Wendy Whitten; brother, James Earl Ford (Kathy); grandchildren, Kaleb Whitten (Rhea), Harlee George (Dacota), Lillee Hinton (Landon), Sawyer Gean, Sadie Gean, Ella Blake Gean, and Bowen Gean; great grandchildren, Hazel Grace George, Dallas Whitten, and Drake Whitten.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and Granny. She loved spending time with her family and her special dog, Dolly. Barbara took great pride in feeding the students at Central school for many years. She left a lasting impact on each and every person she met. Barbara was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the selfless sitters who took great care of our mom and Granny. We are forever grateful for Brandy Bevis, Shelia Cox, Wanda Holloway, Dub Sharp, Annette Jewett, and Debbie Thornton. Also, a special thanks to Nakeshia Harris and Mary Wood of Preferred Hospice.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Gean, Kirby Gean, Kaleb Whitten, Dacota George, Landon Hinton, Bradley Grigsby, Mike Griffith, and Bryce Curtis.
Honorary pallbearers are Sawyer Gean, Bowen Gean, Dallas Whitten, and Drake Whitten.
