Barbara Marsh – Obituary

barbaraBarbara Marsh, 83, of Florence passed away October 15, 2015 after an extended illness.

Barbara was born in Florence and had many fond memories of her days at Gilbert Elementary and Coffee High School. As her children reached school age she was active as a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother and Red Cross Volunteer. In her retirement years she enjoyed fishing with her husband, Jim.

She was a long time member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ. There she served in many rolls including Sunday school teacher, preschool teacher, and in the church office. She was affectionately known as “Mrs. Barbara.”

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Irene Young, son, Jimmy Marsh, and grand-daughter Claudia Marsh.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jim Marsh; sister, Becky Alley; daughter, Becky Marsh; sons, Fred Marsh (Marianne) and Tom Marsh; grandchildren, Jamy Marsh, Logan Marsh, Hannah Marsh and David Marsh; and daughter-in-law Debbie Marsh.

Visitation will be at Greenview Funeral Home on October 19, 2015 from noon to 1 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Kenny Barfield officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Station 4, Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Center for their kind care of Barbara during her illness.
