Barbara Kay Cummings, age 75, passed away on December 22, 2022. In those 75 years of life, she had many jobs, many hats, and walked on the paths that led to great adventures. She started very young in music and singing was her God-given gift. She wrote songs with some of the best in country music. She followed her dreams and had more success than most would ever find.

She had a big heart and that took her to riding bulls. She wanted to be all-around cowgirl. She never met a bull or horse she was scared of. She also had laughter to give away, so she did that by being a rodeo clown, and loved every minute of it.

She made many mistakes, but she learned from them. She was a real person, not perfect, but caring. She never met a stranger. She was stubborn enough that it was easy to believe she could push a chain. She would help any animal she found, took home every type of stray, lost or half-broken, nursing them back to health. She wanted them back to happy again.

Her mother was her best friend, and her father’s words were running through her mind always, every day of her life. Survivors include two brothers that she picked on but would go to war for in a heartbeat; a sister that she adored, sometimes envious of but in the best way. She had two sons and grandchildren, plus countless nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Sadly, the day she passed, she just missed meeting her first great-grandchild. Most of all, she was just my mom. So, if you knew her, or knew she was praying for you, all I can ask is that you remember her in your heart, the way she remembered you.
