Barbara Jo Poteet

Barbara Jo Poteet, 60, departed this life for her eternal home from her residence in the Springhill Community on family land she had lived on since birth. Barbara transformed on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023. Barbara was the daughter of the late Marlin G. Poteet and Junita Phillips Poteet. She graduated from Saltillo High School in l981 and later attended Itawamba Junior College receiving an AA Degree in Early Childhood Education. Her working career included many years service at Action/Lane Furniture in Saltillo where her services were most valued and respected. Barbara was a devoted longtime member of Eggville Free Will Baptist Church where she was active in all the church’s functions. She loved going to church & being involved with the Senior Saints. She especially enjoyed going out to eat with her special friends from church.

A service celebrating her life will take place at 3 PM Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023 in the sanctuary of Eggville Free Will Baptist Church with her longtime friend and pastor, Dr. Gerald Gann, officiating. Private family burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 PM-service time Sunday only at the church. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo is honored to be serving their friends.

Barbara is survived by her only son, Landon Olive of Miss. State and the Springhill Community and his father, Lynn Olive of Tupelo; her siblings, Linda Wilson, Judy Moore, and Phillip Poteet all of Springhill; her nieces and one nephew: Shelly, Marty, Tasha, Neeley and Bayley. Great nieces and nephews: Kaylee, Aidan, J. P., Ember, Cutler, Emerson, Kylie, Cohen, and Dexter.

A very special friend, Margaret Turner and her grand dog, Baylor.

Pallbearers will be: Landon Olive, Phillip Poteet, Marty Wilson, Lynn Turner, Blake Patterson, & Neilson Crump.
