Barbara Jean Worsham of Cherokee, AL passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on August 16, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Lizzie James. Barbara was the wife of the late Bennie Roger Worsham and together they had one son.

Barbara was a secretary at Bigbee Steel and later retired from Muscle Shoals Minerals. Her favorite job though was cooking breakfast at B & S Grocery for her regular customers. Barbara’s biscuits were a delicacy her family will never be able to duplicate and will always miss. A highlight of her years working was planning the annual company family picnic at Muscle Shoals Minerals.

After “retirement,” Barbara owned and operated the Flower Gallery. Her time owning her business was full of making beautiful things, none more special than things at Christmas time.

Barbara was the proud grandmother to three and a great-grandmother to four. She loved her family and friends, loved to cook for a crowd, and lived life large as long as her health would allow.

She is survived by her son, Steve Worsham (Pam); brother Bobby James (Joan); grandchildren, Sarah Beth Shepard (Billy), Blake Worsham (Emily), and Samantha Wright (Parker); nieces, Vicki Woods (Dale), Renee Landers (Eugene); great grandchildren, Beau and Cam Shepard, Tate and Ava Worsham, and many great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, December 17, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Mhoontown Methodist Church. The graveside service will immediately follow in the adjoining cemetery with Billy Shepard and Dwight Rivers officiating.

Family friends will serve as pallbearers.
