Barbara Jean Moore Barbara Jean Moore of Meridianville, AL, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023, after a short illness.

Barbara was born on Jan 20, 1941 in Lincoln County, TN. She is survived by her husband Alton, daughter Terri (Larry), grandchildren Shannon (Chris) and Lauren (Josh), and nine greatgrandchildren. Her sister Carolyn Newton survives her, along with three nieces and three nephews.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother “Ganny” and great grandmother who enjoyed the company of all of these children. She was active in all of their lives, accompanying them on trips, taking them school shopping every year, and even caring for the great grandchildren some in her retirement. She loved country music, with her favorite country singer being George Jones. She enjoyed travelling locally to Opryland, Dollywood and Gatlinburg, TN. She also traveled to Germany for the birth of her second grandchild and to Paris with her daughter on that same trip. Barbara enjoyed the company of countless pets throughout her life and was known for her great taste in cars, owning several Ford Mustangs.

Affectionately known as “Barb” or “Bobbie”, she worked primarily in the restaurant business for 45 years and during her career managed every Waffle House in Huntsville.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alton Eugene Moore; Daughter, Terri L. Ashton (Larry); Grandchildren, Shannon N. Mendiola (Chris), Lauren A. Magnusson (Josh); Great Grandchildren Kaylee, Riley, Natalie, Cody, Emily, Caden, Hallie, Molly, and Charlotte; and Sibling, Carolyn Newton.

Visitation will be Wednesday May 17, 2023 at Berryhill Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Jacob Chandler officiating. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery.
