Barbara Jean Flurry, age 90, of Corinth, Mississippi went home to be with the Lord on
Wednesday morning, February 8, 2023. The days preceding her death, she was surrounded by
her children, and closest friends. Barbara was loved and will be missed by her son, James
Todd Harris and wife, Brenda of Southern Pines, North Carolina, her daughter, Lynn Harris
Bunn and grandson, Michael Bunn of Wake Forest, North Carolina. She was predeceased by
her husband, Durwood (Doug) Flurry, fondly known as “Colonel” around town, as well as her
parents, Clyde and Louise Burnside.
You may remember her beautiful smile and sweet disposition while banking at the drive through
window of The National Bank of Commerce on Shiloh Road, where she cheerfully greeted her
customers for many years. Post retirement she enjoyed selling jewelry at The Cherry Tree, also
in Corinth. But perhaps what she is most remembered for is beginning “Hurting Hearts Ministry”,
a nonprofit offering inspirational and spiritual cards she created, providing hope to those hurting.
Her wonderful cards are still displayed in homes, medical offices and businesses throughout
several neighboring states.
Barbara enjoyed her friends, up until her death. Some of her closest friends included Linda
Dove and Marie Dotson of Corinth, Mississippi, as well as Brenda and Kenneth Lancaster of
Guys, Tennessee.
If you had the pleasure of knowing Barbara, please join us for a drop in visitation at the Vicari
Italian Grill to celebrate her life on Thursday March 2, 2023, between 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. 514
Cruise Street, Corinth, Mississippi
