Barbara Jean Edmond-Whalen Barbara Jean Edmond-Whalen, 87 from Nauvoo, Alabama died Friday August 25, 23 from a lengthy illness that finally took her home to Jesus.
Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years Fred O. Whalen: daughter, Teresa Norman; grandchildren Jennifer & Brandie Tenke; her parents Charles B. Wilson and Eva Orene Wilson and sisters Nora Jeanell Brown and Eunice Bagley.
She is survived by her four children, Eva Clark of Midland Texas, Fred “Dooley” Whalen and his wife Karen of Chesterton Indiana, Marilyn Alyea and her husband Daniel of Panama City Beach Florida and Susan Whalen Bloomington of Norman Illinois. 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, brother James R. Wilson of Sumiton; sisters, Sue McGough of Sumiton, Vonnie Goldsmith of Nauvoo, Glenda Watson of Auburn and Kathy Solowes of Hueytown.
Mrs. Whalen’s love and devotion of her children, grandchildren and family was the largest and most precious part of her life. She retired from Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad with 33 years of service. She attended and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years in the First Assembly of God church. She was an avid reader and read the bible from cover-to-cover serval times in her life.
