OI2048140770_BarbaraWeaverFollowing a brief and courageous battle with cancer, Barbara Jane Weaver died peacefully on Saturday December 12, 2015 at the age of 72 in Decatur, Alabama surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born on June 27, 1943 in Evansville, Indiana to Joseph and Jane Tingley who preceded her. She grew up in Evansville with her three brothers and attended Benjamin Bosse High School. In 1977 Barbara moved to Lafayette, Indiana where she worked for Rea Magnet Wire. She retired from Rea and in 2006 she moved to Decatur, Alabama with her husband Daniel, originally from Muskegon, Michigan.

In her youth Barbara loved ballet, jazz, and tap dancing and she later became a dance instructor and a choreographer for school and community performances. She loved caring for plants and was known for having an extreme green thumb because of her ability to rejuvenate the plants her family and friends had left for dead. Aside from her family, Barbara loved her four “best friends” from grade school who she maintained a close relationship with for over 60 years.  Her family will most remember her as an excellent cook.  She loved cooking for any and all family occasions knowing and believing that food brings us and bonds us closer together.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother David Tingley.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel Weaver; her brothers, Doug (Bonnie) Tingley and Scott Tingley; her son, Welker Lee Gilpatrick III; her daughter, Laura (John) Fuller; her step-sons, Scott (Nancy) Weaver and George (fiancé: Deb) Weaver ; and her 7 grandchildren, Kelly Weaver(fiancé: Brandon), Brian Weaver, Justin Fuller, Kyra Fuller, Kevin Weaver, Ethan Fuller and Logan Weaver.

Barbara requested to be cremated.  The family will be receiving family and friends at their home on Saturday December 19, from 1:00 to 4:00.  The family is sincerely grateful for the loving and attentive care provided by the Hospice of the Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley in Decatur, Alabama.
