Barbara Gail RussellBarbara Gail Russell passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at home in Pontotoc, Mississippi at 62 years of age.

Gail grew up in Pontotoc, where she attended Pontotoc City School until she graduated a year early. After getting married in November 1979, she moved to the Buchanan community. In 1990, she gave birth to her only child, Tasha, whom she adored greatly.

In her later years, she enjoyed growing flowers, arranging potted plants, and being in the outdoors going on several hiking trips with her daughter and son-in-law.

Gail was a devoted Christian, who was strong, loving, joyful, and even known to be a little snarky when the occasion warranted. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her, including her sisters, brothers, immediate family, and the many friends she made and treasured throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Clotile and Verna Street, Gail is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Wanda Wilder and Bette Seale and 2 brothers-in-law, Don Hendrix and Joe Owens.

She is survived by her daughter, Tasha Turner, son-in-law, Shawn Turner, her grand-daughter, Breanna; her sisters, Linda Greer and her husband Donny, Brenda Owens, Beth Hendrix, and Nandra Street; her brothers, Johnny Street and his wife Debbie, Ronny Street, and Terry Street and his wife Sandy; and her numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc on Tuesday, January 9th from 5-8pm and on Wednesday, January 10th at Buchanan Baptist Church from 10am until the service at 11 am. Brother Bobby Cossey and Brother Kyle Vernon will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Street, John Noe, Derek Crowe, Mitch Williamson, Rodney Carpenter, and Terry Street.
