Our Mom’s/Granny’s days of grieving for our dad, Sterlin Smith and brothers Keith and
Terrel are over. Our mourning has just begun over her passing on Friday, August 18, 2023.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 11:30 – 2:00 at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia with the funeral service following in the funeral home chapel. Ben Hayes and Michael South will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.

Mom was a graduate of Colbert County High School, class of 1956. She graduated one night and married our dad the next day. Mom volunteered at Hatton Elementary School for several years before she was employed to be school’s secretary / assistant librarian. Mom left Hatton Elementary to take over as librarian of Heritage University. Mom later left Heritage to become the full-time wagon riding partner to our dad. She did often return to be a substitute teacher
at Hatton Elementary, anytime she was needed. Mom was also the treasurer of the North Alabama Wagon Club and a member of the Pioneer Wagon Train.

Mom loved, and was loved by, her church families at Highland Park Church of Christ and East Colbert Church of Christ.

Mom was preceded in death by our father, her husband of 65 years, Sterlin Smith and our brothers, Keith and Terrel.

Mom’s remaining children are Pam Roberts (Dan), Greg Smith (Pam), Mike Smith (Camille), Kady Smith and Kristy Smith. Her grandchildren are Jason Mahaffey (Shelley), Justin Mahaffey (Crystal), Rene Robinson, Joseph Smith (Andrea), Craig Smith (Kadi), Josh Smith (Christina), Cheyenne Stanfield (Jacob) and Hughston Smith (Rylie). Mom has 16 great grandchildren.

Mom’s grandsons will serve as pall bearers and the great grandchildren will be honorary pall bearers.

Mom/Granny will be missed, but we can all take comfort in knowing that her mind and body are whole again.
