Mrs. Barbara Blackwell Neal, age 76 of Athens, AL passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at UAB Hospital. Mrs. Neal was born on May 2, 1941 in Winter Haven, Florida to Albert and Mary King Blackwell.
A Wife, Mother, Gran and Homemaker who loved her family very much, Mrs. Neal is survived by her husband, Druye “Billy” Neal of Athens, AL; one daughter, Penny Neal Lawler and husband Jerry of Athens, AL; one son, Jeffrey William Neal of Athens, AL; two sisters, Mary Parrott of Clinton, TN and Deborah Lonsway of Athens, AL; two brothers, Sydney Blackwell of Athens, AL and Jerry Blackwell of Huntsville, AL; three grandchildren, Dru Lauren Lawler, Daniel Lee Lawler and Chloe Grace Neal.
Mrs. Neal was a member of Lindsay Lane Baptist Church where she was the chairperson of The Women’s Intercessory Prayer Ministry. She was also a member of Carpenters for Christ at both Lindsay Lane Baptist Church and Lakeside Baptist in Birmingham, AL.
Services for Mrs. Neal will be at 2:00PM Friday, January 19, 2018 at Lindsay Lane Baptist Church with Dusty McLemore officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Smith, Wayne White, David Beach, Robbie Burrough, Dave Mackle, Bill Mitchell, George Anthony, and Don Lauderdale. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Johnson, Leon Simmons, Malcolm Townsend, Tommy Reid, Randy Brown, Tim Smith and Jeff Murray.
