Barbara Bennett Lann, 72 of Tremont, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Methodist Hospital-Olive Branch after a short hospitalization. She was born on June 15, 1950 in rural Itawamba County, Mississippi to the late Cleatus and Opal Smith Bennett. She married her late husband of almost 54 years of marriage, Danny Lann, on January 28, 1967. Once married, they moved to Santa Ana, CA where he was stationed for his tenure of service in the Marines at El Toro Military Base. Later they would return to Itawamba County where they lived until their deaths. She worked at what is now Trustmark Bank in Fulton, MS for most of her career. She had a love for photography that began when she received her first camera from her parents at the age of 10. Her favorite pictures to take were of the beauty and wildlife of Cades Cove in the Smokies Mountain. Until the time when she could no longer visit because of her health, there was not a bear or deer in the Cove that had not had their picture taken by her. Another favorite subject of her camera lens was her granddaughter, Matti. Along with photography, her creativity was best seen in the craft items that she loved to make. It was her stress release and a source of income to make those trips to the Smokies. She loved being with her family either gathered around the family table or around a campfire camping. She was a long-time member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she co-led the youth group for many years and held various leadership positions within the church. She instilled in her family by example the importance of family and living out your faith in Jesus Christ.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am on Friday May 12, 2023 at Kennedy’s Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Napier and Sonny Daniels officiating. There will be no public visitation prior to the service.
