Barbara Barton Gillespie, aged 59, passed away on September 16, 2024, in Madison, AL. Born on January 27, 1965, in Jackson, MS, Barbara was known by everyone for her compassionate and loving nature, and her angelic voice, which brought joy to all who heard it.
Barbara leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, James Gillespie; children, Bethany (Daniel) Nichols, David (Stephanie) Gillespie, and Lauren (Kale) Beasley; sister, Rebecca (Brad) Duffie; mother-in-law, Joy Gillespie; brother-in-law, Sean (Donna) Gillespie; her cherished grandchildren, Skyler, Colton, Remmi, Christian James, Ella, Norah, Lilah, Cecilia, and Austin; and her nephews and nieces Jackson, Jacob, Cliff, Mason, Conner, Morgan, and Emma. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Barbara was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clifford and Walterrene Barton, Willie Dee and Edith Smith; parents, Jimmie and Naomi Barton; siblings, Jimmie Barton Jr and Jaqueline Paige Barton; daughter, Maegan Sime; and father-in-law, James Gillespie.
Barbara’s hobbies included sewing, smocking, quilting, and traveling. She particularly enjoyed going on cruises and visiting Pike’s Peak, experiences that she treasured and shared with her family.
A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home, beginning at 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, September 21st, with a visitation from 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to the service. The family invites all who knew Barbara to join in commemorating her life.
