Barbara Ann Mitchell Glover,78, of the Dilworth community passed away Friday June 2.
She is preceded in death by her parents Austin and Lucille Mitchell, infant bother Earmon, and husband William “Punk” Glover.
She is survived by her son Matt (Dede), two grandchildren she adored, Asa and Caroline Glover, her beloved brother Ken (Carol) Mitchell and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be honored at New Horizon Funeral Home in Dora on Sunday, June 4, with visitation from 12:45 to 1:45 followed by a graveside service at 2:00.
Barbara was a member of Grace Baptist church in Sumiton until her illness no longer allowed her to
attend. She was an incredibly smart woman who could do anything she put her mind to. After high
school, she attended beauty school and opened her own shop. After a few years, she returned to school
and attended Carraway Methodist Medical Center’s nursing program. She loved nursing and caring for
the sick. A natural leader, she led multiple departments throughout her career and helped create
multiple home health agencies in Jasper, AL, often as a one-man show driving the county in a station
wagon loaded down with medical supplies and a heart to care for those in need.
Most of Barbara’s retirement years were spent caring for her parents and grandchildren because family
and caring for others were her greatest joy and talent. She will truly be missed.
