Barbara Ann Johnson Tayes, age 82 of Hermitage, TN passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 4, 2021. She was born on July 7, 1939 in Pinson, TN to her parents; Jewell and Ruby Wilson Bridgewater who predeceased her. She was a lifelong Tennessee native, becoming a LPN before she was twenty; she provided nursing services into her seventies. Barbara had the great joy of traveling with Riley the past five years and was always ready for the next trip. She enjoyed gardening and camping as well. She lived, she loved and was loved! She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Barbara has now journeyed over Jordan where there is no more night and Jesus is her light.
She was a faithful and loving wife to two husbands over 60 years of marriage. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Earlis Johnson in 2012. She is survived by her current husband, Riley “Tater” Tayes of Hermitage by her children and step children Earlis “Butch” (Teresa) Johnson Jr., Bruce (Lisa) Johnson, Ronald (Brenda) Johnson, Tommy (Sandra) Johnson, Missi (Tony) Leebrick, Riley Ray (Lisa) Tayes Jr and Cindy (Gary) Vick, by 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, August 7 from 9 am until 10:30 am with a Celebration of Life service at 10:30 am at Temple Baptist Church of Old Hickory 110 Fellowship Lane, Old Hickory, TN 37318.
Graveside services will be at 5 pm Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Reagan, TN.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Temple Baptist Church of Old Hickory.
