Barbara Ann Griffith, 84, of Huntsville, AL passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, surrounded by her family. Barbara was born July 17, 1939, and grew up in Peoria, Illinois, where she met and married her husband of nearly 66 years, Robert Lee Griffith.
Barbara was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. She played tennis for more than 47 years in the Huntsville area, both in the HITL league and at the Huntsville Athletic Club. She was an avid reader, and loved antiques, decorating, and traveling, both domestically and abroad, with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Robert ‘Bob’ Lee Griffith; her son, Robert ‘Bobby’ Lowell Griffith, his wife, Deborah ‘Debby’ and their daughter, Dr. SueAnne N. Griffith; daughters, Constance Jo ‘Connie’ Griffith, Nancy Anne Griffith, both of Huntsville, and Stephanie Ruth McDaniel and her husband, James W. ‘Jim’ of Birmingham, AL.
Private services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all her extended family and friends who reached out with prayers and cards and to the Affinity Hospice organization in assisting with the peaceful transition to her heavenly home.
