Ms. Barbara Ann Bennett, age 76, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Barbara was born March 17, 1948 in Marshall County, AL. Her parents were L.D. Hayes, Sr. and Nova Marie Harwood-Hayes. She was a lifelong resident of the Arab, Alabama community. Barbara was a high school graduate and had earned additional college credit. Her previous work was in the manufacturing industry as a product production assembly line employee. Her first husband and father of her children, Emmett “Bill” Bennett, preceded her in death. She is currently common-law married to Keith Hartwell.
Barbara was a member of Faith Rock Baptist Church. She was a homebody whose family and home was top priority. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, and caring for her roses. She wrote poetry and songs, several of which have been published. Classic country and gospel music were her favorites. She babied her dogs, fed the wild birds and was not hesitant in supporting Donald Trump.
Family members left behind to cherish their memories of Barbara include: husband, Keith Hartwell; daughters, Sherry Mayberry (Matthew), and Nita Bennett (Heidi); grandchildren, Elise Mayberry, D.J. and Elijah Malone, Anna Wright, and Walker McKenney; and three great-grandchildren; four step-daughters; two step-sons; and a host of step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
The family has chosen to honor Barbara’s wishes for cremation. Family, friends and guest will gather at Faith Rock Baptist Church at 3:30 pomp Saturday, November 9, 2024 for a memorial service to honor and recognize Barbara. Brother Larry Narrell will officiate.
