Barbara Ann Bear Luebbert, 74, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024. Barbara was born on February 20, 1950, in Kansas City, KS. She was the third child born to Jack Compton Bear and Audrey Judith Elliot Bear and has two older brothers, John Elliot (Susan) Bear and Clyde Stuart (Marsha) Bear II. She attended Sydney Lanier High School in Montgomery, AL and William Woods University in Fulton, MO where she pursued equestrian studies. Barbara was an equestrian- bred, trained, and showed horses, a dog breeder and handler, and worked at Hager Companies for 23 years. She dearly loved her family, horses, and dogs. She lived in Montgomery, AL for most of her life but resided in Huntsville, AL since 2009 to be close to her family.
Barbara was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a loving, devoted mother to her only child, Melissa Compton Luebbert Weeks and dearly loved Melissa’s husband, Lee Weeks. She too was a loving Memaw to her three granddaughters, Audrey Elizabeth Weeks (Reed) Kirkpatrick, Caitilin Greer Weeks (Drew) Kelly, and Mattie Lee Weeks (Eli) Bishop; and two great-grandchildren, Tucker Reed Kirkpatrick and Millie James Kirkpatrick.
The family would like to give special thanks to South Hampton Nursing and Rehab where she was a resident for six years and Hospice of North AL for their dedication and loving care of Barbara.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home at 2320 Bob Wallace Avenue SW in Huntsville, AL.
