Barbara Ann Baswell Raines lived a life of 82 years working hard, providing for and taking care of her family. After a year’s stay at Shearer-Richardson Nursing Home in Okolona, Barbara crossed over on Saturday, July 6, 2024 from complications of kidney failure. Born Sept. 13, 1941 to the late Frank and Evaline Floyd Basell in the Blackland Community of Prentiss Co., Barbara lived 45 years in Verona where she raised her children. A master cook by trade, she cooked at Lee Manor Nursing Home for years before joining the staff at Grady’s Hamburgers. Barbara was a strong, independent woman whose family meant the world to her. A Baptist, she enjoyed cooking, visiting with friends and family, was an avid conversationalist, enjoyed babysitting, crossword puzzles, reading books and living her life with gusto. She will be missed!

A service celebrating her life will be held at Noon Tuesday, July 9, 2024 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with Bro. Billy Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4PM – 8PM Monday, July 8, 2024, and from 11 AM-service time on Tuesday. For those unable to attend the service will be live-streamed at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/live-streaming and will be archived thereafter.

Barbara Ann is survived by her children, David DeLoach (Paula) of Shannon, Kenny Deloach (Lisa) of Pontotoc, Michael Davis (Lisa) of Pontotoc, and Tammy Lynn Kimble of Guntown; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families; a special best friend, Janie Pettigo of Guntown. She was preceded in death by her parents and was the last of her siblings being preceded in death by Helen, Dorothy, Shirley, Sunny, and Robert.
