Barbara Aileen Current, age 82, Columbia resident, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, at her residence.
Barbara was born August 16, 1933 in Charlotte, NC, the daughter of the late William Franklin Putnam and Aletha Davis Putnam. She was the wife of Hugh Frank Current, who survives. Barbara was a teller supervisor at First American National Bank. She sang in the Calvary Methodist Church choir and loved to sing for weddings and funerals. The bank also had a choir that she sung with. Barbara was involved in the Newcomers Club in Columbia for over 30 years. She loved to read and kept her husband busy building bookcases. Barbara loved Duke Blue Devils basketball and Alabama football.
Survivors include her husband, Hugh Frank Current of Columbia; one daughter, Frankie A. (Steve) Cashion of Smyrna and one son, Joey (Sabrina) Current of Columbia; grandchildren, Stephanie Cashion of Woodbury, Jamie (Jonathan) Dooley of Murfreesboro and Jared Cashion of Smyrna.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Dennis Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in the Polk Memorial Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Cashion, Jared Cashion, Jonathan Dooley, Dwight Moore and Frankie Richardson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a charitable donation be made in her name to a charity of your choosing.
