Baby Ray Shouse

Baby Ray Shouse, age 91, a resident of Columbia, formerly of Santa Fe, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at his residence.

 

A memorial service to celebrate Ray’s life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, officiated by Tommy Fox. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Ray will be laid to rest in Adkisson Cemetery at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Born on August 30, 1932, in Maury County, Tennessee, Ray served his country as a member of the United States Navy, dedicating four years of his life to his service. He wore many hats throughout his life, including that of a dedicated farmer, a skilled sawmill operator, and a hardworking logger. Ray also played an essential role in his community as a school bus driver and custodian for Santa Fe School. He found comfort in fishing, and his craftsmanship in woodworking was admired by many.

 

He is survived by his children, Jerry (Colette) Shouse of Santa Fe, TN, Billy Shouse of Columbia, TN, Judy (James) Neale of Lynnville, TN, grandchildren, Jeri Renee (Shane) Crane, Michael Ashley (Marvena) Shouse, Patrick Colton Shouse, Dakota Cheyenne Shouse, Lisa Marie (Timothy Wayne) Owens, Samuel (Ashley) Neale, Benjamin (Lauren) Neale, Caleb (Allysa) Neale, and sixteen great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ollie McKee Shouse, wife, Maggie Oakley Stanfill Shouse, and siblings, Aline Hill, Doris Harris, Hervey Shouse, Elmer Shouse, Glenn Shouse, and Junior Shouse.
