Babe Allen Hester – Obituary

Babe Allen Hester, 88, of Middleton, departed this life Saturday morning, July 16, 2016 at his home.

The husband of Nova Lee Gates Hester, who survives, he worked as a welder for the steel industry and with Capital Steel & Iron Company, retiring after 30 years. He was born November 16, 1927 in Gonzales, Texas, son of the late Ethan Allen Hester and Myrtle Faye Kellogg Hester and moved to Hardeman County in 2008 from Houston, Texas. He married Nova Lee Gates on May 28, 1955 and they made their home in Texas where he enjoyed his family, gardening, fishing and tinkering with anything. Other interests he had included horses and being outside. His family states that he was a good godly man, he loved his grandchildren and was a very happy person. He was a very active member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church in Houston, Texas and of First Baptist Church in Middleton.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Annah Cagle of Middleton; grandchildren, Shannon Bishop (Michael), Sarah Taylor (Coty) and Daniel Cagle; and great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Hunter Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brother, Marvin, Alvin and N.J. Hester. The family requests memorial donations in Mr. Hester’s name be to the National Alzheimer’s Association. (www.alz.org/donate)
