Avis McCoy Saint Sr., 88, of Town Creek, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024 at his home. The graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 18, 2024 at Fergason Cemetery with Bro. Thomas Thornton officiating. Burial will be at Fergason Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Born on June 23, 1936 to the late Pride and Lola Portwood Saint, Avis graduated Hatton High School. He was a member of Okolona Baptist Church and he attended Zion Hill Baptist Church with his wife. Avis had a passion for basketball and Alabama football; and will be remembered for his care and compassion for his community.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Pat Johnson Saint; sons, Coy (Sue) Saint, Kevin (Estonia) Saint, Sr., and Brian (Amanda) Saint; grandchildren, Bonnie (Brent) Dean, Ryan (Crystal) Bracken, Monica (Dustin) Johnson, Kevin (Keeli) Saint, Jr., Ashley (Patrick) O’Neal, Tricia Saint, and William McCoy Saint; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Avis was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Barbara Byars.
Pallbearers will be Coy Saint, Kevin Saint, Sr., Brian Saint, Kevin Saint, Jr., Dustin Johnson, and Ryan Bracken. Honorary pallbearers are William McCoy Saint and Jeff Byars.
The family extends special thanks to Hospice of North Alabama, his nurses, Ginny, Trinity and Bonnie; and also to the special caregivers that helped the family.
