Austin Tyler Dunaway, 25, departed this life and met his Creator unexpectedly from his Mooreville residence on Sunday evening, December 25, 2022. He had spent a joyful Christmas day riding his new bicycle around the family property in Mooreville. Austin was born on September 8, 1997 in Tupelo, the son of Walter Dean “Wally” Dunaway and Sharon Williams Dunaway Sobrato. At age 7, Austin was involved in a school bus accident which disabled him for the remainder of his life. He remained in Plantersville Schools and finished his High School Degree graduating from Mooreville High School in 2018. He loved his Special education teachers who returned that love to him. A big hearted man and big in stature, Austin loved bossing his dad around and riding with him to jobs. He loved the outdoors and rambling around the house and all kinds of music.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM Friday, December 30, 2022 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with Bro. Buck Hester officiating and Brad Smith doing the eulogy. Private family burial will take place in Shipley Cemetery off Birmingham Ridge Road. Visitation will be from 5 PM-7PM Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022 and from 10 AM-service time on Friday all at Holland-Tupelo, which is honored to be serving their friends. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Livestreaming at 11 AM Friday, and will be archived thereafter.

Austin is survived by his dad, Wally Dunaway (Nikki) and his mother, Sharon Sobrado (Chris) all of Mooreville; his siblings, Walter “Wally” Dunaway, Jr. (Bridgett) of Marietta and Zachary Dunaway of Mooreville; Savannah Hester (Cain) of Nettleton, Jade Ridener (Brandon) of Kennedy, Ala., Ashley Dunaway and Taylor Dunaway both of Mooreville; his nieces and nephews, Mason Dunaway, Olivia Dunaway, Aubree Hester and Colby Ridener; his uncles Michael Whitehead, Joseph Dunaway and Jamie Dunaway; his aunts, Jessica Ziels and Amy Plymel; and many cousins and a host of friends.
