Audrey ‘Pat’ Ivy was born on September 29, 1927, in Youngstown, Ohio. Pat was 95 years old when she went to join her husband William F. Ivy Jr. on December 17, 2022. She was predeceased by her family – parents, William and Marion Patterson, brother, William, and sisters, Christina, Jean, Marion, and Sarah. Audrey was the last of the Patterson siblings – second-generation Scots with strong Christian values. She leaves to remember her a son, William F. Ivy III (Nancy); two grandchildren, Monroe Ivy and Mattie Ivy Leeds (Galen); and one great-grandchild, Corbin Leeds.

Audrey was a 1949 graduate of Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for the Huntsville Hospital system intermittently for over thirty years. For many years, she was head nurse on the 7th floor oncology ward.

Bill and Pat met in Columbus, Ohio and married in 1952. After that, they returned to Bill’s hometown of Huntsville, Alabama. In 2019, Pat moved to Colorado to be near family.

Audrey was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday school for teen groups and was a member of St. Stephen’s visiting ministry. She was on the Board of Directors of the first Hospice founded in Huntsville. After her retirement from nursing, she enjoyed tutoring in Huntsville’s public schools.

Pat conducted herself with grace and dignity at all times. She should be remembered in the highest, truest traditions of a selfless caregiver. She was always the ’Head Nurse.’

The funeral service will be held on January 6, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gideon Blackburn House at First Presbyterian Church of Huntsville, officiated by Reverend Tara Bulger.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to a Hospice of your choice would be appreciated.
