Audrey Nell (Cole) Babcock, age 86, of Columbia TN passed away peacefully from natural causes on Saturday morning, November 26th with family by her side.
A service will be held at 2 PM Friday, December 9, 2022, with visitation from 12 – 2 PM, at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, TN with her brother Justus Cole officiating. A private burial for the family will take place later in Fayetteville, TN where Audrey will be laid to rest next to her husband Bill.
Audrey was born on March 11, 1936, in Hackleburg, AL to Oscar and Oma Cole as the fifth of eleven children. Growing up on a farm in rural Alabama, she and her brothers and sisters enjoyed many different adventures and explorations in between times of hard work on the farm and in the household. The family often sang hymns and read the Bible together, and Audrey enjoyed these activities her entire life. In high school she played basketball and was salutatorian of her class. As a young woman, work took her through the northeast and into Canada. But her Mama and the South called her back.
