February 2, 1932 – January 23, 2014

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Christ Central United Methodist Church for Audrey Jacqueline (Jackie) Creel, 81, of Rainbow City, who passed away on January 23, 2014 and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will lie in state from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Rev. Sherri Reynolds will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mrs. Creel was born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 2, 1932. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in Birmingham and attended Birmingham Southern College. She married the late Rev. George Barnett Creel on August 24, 1951. Mrs. Creel served along with her husband, a United Methodist minister for 62 years, in numerous churches in North Alabama. She loved to teach Sunday School, to work with United Methodist Women, and promote missions work. She was a member of Christ Central United Methodist Church of Rainbow City.
Mrs. Creel was preceded in death by her father, Lucian Cater; husband, Rev. George B. Creel; and grandson, Patrick Daniel.
She is survived by her mother, Lucille Cater; son, David Creel; daughters, Sharon (David) Asbury, and Cindy Daniel; grandchildren: Mark Asbury, Kevin Asbury, Paul Asbury, and Jennifer (Chase) Nease; great-grandchildren, Caden, Chapel, and Carys Nease; sisters, Carolyn (Ed) Jones, Lucianne (Robert) Pugh, and Patty McIntire; brother, Frank (Dot) Cater; ; sister-in-law, Ellinor Butterley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Webb Sledge, Dr. Virenjan Narayan, Dr. Jeremy Goodwin, Landria Gladden, the entire staff at The Meadows of Rainbow City, Gentiva Hospice, Christie Alexander and her team of sitters, and the entire 5th floor staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Central United Methodist Church in Rainbow City, or to Far East Broadcasting Company in La Mirada, California.
The family will accept friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
