Audrey Era “A.E.” Moon – Obituary

Visitation for Audrey Era “A.E.” Moon, 91, of Ryan Crossroads, will be today, April 19, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Ridout’s-Brown Service Funeral Home in Decatur. Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Reverend John Alley officiating. Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens.

Mr. Moon was born December 31, 1926 in Somerville to James Joseph Moon and Mae Black Moon. He passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Floyd E. ‘Tut’ Fann State Veterans Home. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army. Mr. Moon graduated from Ryan High School in 1945. He worked for 32 years at Monsanto. He loved his family, woodworking, gardening, driving the John Deere, and tending to his beef cattle. He was a Sunday school teacher and member of Ryan Baptist Church. He and Marie were high school sweethearts and were married for 72 years. Mr. Moon was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; one son, Harlan Moon (Edith); one daughter, Elaine Carlton (Paul); grandchildren, Edward Carlton (Cherie), David Carlton (Heather), Donald Carlton (Heather) and Thomas Carlton (Rebecca); great-grandchildren, Jessica (David), Chase, Evan, Kristin, Lance and Lana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Committee on Church Cooperation (CCC), 119 1st Avenue NE, Decatur, AL 35601.
