Aubrey Cecil McDonald, Jr, 84, of Rogersville, passed away on November 16, 2024, at home with his family. Visitation will be on November 21, 2024, from 1PM to 3PM at Roselawn Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life beginning at 3PM given by Eual Lamon.
Cecil is survived by two daughters, Sherry Ann Dockter (Jeff) and Terry Ann Byrom, his fiancé, Thelma Jo (Bowling) Stephenson, his brother, Philip W. McDonald (Wanda), five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Juanita (Skeeter) Miller McDonald and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey C. McDonald, Sr (Lorraine).
Cecil was born in Decatur and grew up in Austinville. He retired from 3M in 1998. He spent the beginning of his retirement building Skeeter’s dream home on the Tennessee River. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, antique shopping, cast iron collecting and tracing family genealogy. He also took pride in being the primary caregiver for his parents and many other family members who have preceded him.
During his senior year of high school (1958), he and Jo were voted class favorites. After all these years, they were able to reconnect and became engaged. Although they were never married due to Cecil’s illness, Jo was an important part of Cecil’s life. The family would like to take this time to express our love and gratitude to her. The kindness and compassion she had for Cecil and his daughters will never be forgotten. Cecil loved you dearly!
Roselawn Funeral Home has the honor of serving the family.
