Attempt To Elude Traffic Stop Nets Two On Drug Charges In Morgan County

MORGAN COUNTY-The Morgan County sheriff’s Department issued a statement on a Multi-Agency police chase that ended in the arrest of two people:

“Just before midnight on Thursday, January 27, 2022, a Somerville Police Officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The vehicle failed to yield to lights and sirens and attempted to elude.
Deputies assisted in the pursuit east bound on HWY 36 and were joined by Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Troopers northbound on Highway 231. The vehicle continued into Huntsville where Huntsville Police Department Officers assisted. The pursuit ended when the vehicle failed to successfully navigate a median.
Somerville Police Department arrested Charles David Greenwell, 37 of Enterprise, AL and Alicia Thompson, 29 of Summertown, TN at the scene.

During the pursuit, the occupants threw multiple items from the care which were later recovered by law enforcement.

Marijuana
32-5-240 – Traffic-Improper Lights
13A-11-54 – Weapons-Unlawful Carrying Rifle/Shotgun/Cane Gun
13A-6-24 – Reckless Endangerment
13A-10-52 – Attempting to Elude a Police Officer
13A-12-260 – Unlawful Possession Drug Paraphernalia
His bond was set at $10,800
Thompson is charged with 9-11-304 – Weapons-Possession of Gun without permit
13A-7-29 – Public Order Crimes-CL Criminal Littering
13A-10-129 – Tampering with Physical Evidence
13A-12-260 – Unlawful Possession Drug Paraphernalia
13A-12-214 – Dangerous Drugs-Possession of
Marijuana
13A-12-212 – Dangerous Drugs-Possession Of Dangerous Drugs
Her bond set at $10,500
Both were transported to and booked in the Morgan County Jail.
