Mr. Athol Hunter Smith, Jr., age 68, of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Hunter was born on March 22, 1947 in the Rock Dale community of Maury County, Tennessee to Athol Hunter Smith, Sr. and Virginia Calvert Smith. Hunter loved collecting old Native American pictures as well as Confederate artwork. He also enjoyed riding horses and motorcycles and also hunting. He worked as a dispatcher for an oil rig in Texas.
Hunter is survived by his siblings: Patsy (George) Shaffer of Victoria, Texas, Ruby (Bobby) Frazier of Mt. Pleasant, Jo (Jerry) Davis of Mt. Pleasant, Robert Ernest (Mary) Smith of Mt. Pleasant and Stanley Smith of Columbia; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents: Athol Hunter Smith, Sr. and Virginia Calvert Smith; and his sister-in-law: Debra Smith.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee with Jeff Waldrop officiating. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
