Athens Woman Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle

ATHENS-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident involving a pedestrian occured and the pedestrain lost her life:

“A single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 7:44 p.m. Thursday, March 14, has claimed the life of an Athens woman.

The pedestrian, Amber L. Lankster, 39, was fatally injured when she was struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Jason G. Elrod, 36, of Elkmont. Lankster was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Prior to impact, Lankster was involved in a previous crash also as a pedestrian. The crash occurred on Alabama 99 near Sugar Way Road, approximately seven miles north of Athens, in Limestone County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
