ATHENS-The City of Athens has kicked off a new project: “Athens 2040”.  This effort is an update of the City’s Comprehensive Plan, led by the City of Athens and planning consultant Town Planning and Urban Design Collaborative, LLC (TPUDC).  The public will have several opportunities to get engaged and participate in the process, starting with the Community Kickoff Event on April 22. Join us then to find out more about the goals of the Athens 2040 project and to share your ideas for the future.

A comprehensive plan is a long-range policy document that establishes the vision and goals for how the City wants to continue to grow over the next 20 years. The comprehensive plan will be used to help guide and improve livability, economics, mobility, recreation, employment, services and education in the City. Through this process, the community will inform the vision and goals for the future.

Taking into account concerns around COVID-19, the Kickoff event will be held both in person and virtually.

When: April 22, 2021 from 5:30-7:00pm

In Person: City Hall – Council Chambers, 200 W. Hobbs Street, Athens, AL Online: To attend via Zoom, please visit Athens2040.com to register
