ATHENS- Athens State University and the John Wade Keyes Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will celebrate Constitution Day at noon on Monday, September 19. The event will be presented in McCandless Hall on the Athens State campus.
Constitution Day kicks off with a hot dog cookout in the Athens State Sandridge Student Center at 11 a.m. The Constitution Day Program will
follow at noon. The public is invited to all events free of charge. Boy Scout Troop 240 will be on hand for a flag ceremony and Children of the American Revolution and various Girl Scout troops will be participating in the ringing of the bells.
“We look forward to this event each year,” states Athens State’s Dean of College of Arts and Sciences Ron Fritze. “It is always a good thing to host events that bring our students, faculty, staff, and the community together.”
Featured speaker, LTG James O. Barclay, U.S. Army (Retired) will discuss the Constitution and why it matters in America today.
