ATHENS-It’s that wonderful time of the year again and we are excited to welcome you back to Athens Saturday Market. Beginning June 6th, come down to the market at 409 Green St. every Saturday 8AM- Noon through August 29. We will be closed on July 4th.
The Athens Saturday Market is an Alabama Certified Farmers Market. This means that all produce is locally, organically, and naturally grown in North Alabama or in the Tennessee Valley. Prepared foods and handcrafted goods are made by local artisans.
Enjoy music from Matt Prater and Jacob Greene on opening day. Sit back in one of our hand painted rocking chairs or at our picnic tables. This would be a perfect time for beignets. The Happi Pappi Beignet Truck has been making appearances all over our community during the COVID-19 crisis, providing yummy treats to subdivisions, hospitals, parks, schools and businesses. Come and enjoy them at the market!
We have put new procedures in place to ensure the safety and comfort of our patrons, vendors and volunteers. We ask you to, please:
- Sanitize your hands with our hand sanitizer before entering the market.
- Stay 6 feet apart and follow the directional arrows on the ground. We may need to limit the number of patrons in the market if we cannot properly social distance.
- Use the designated entrance into the market and the designated exit. Cross overs to stalls on the opposite side are fine, just be sure to social distance.
- Wear your masks, if you have one. However, masks are not required.
** New ** Market Pickup – If you have underlining health issues or are uncomfortable with shopping within the shelter, our volunteers will be happy to assist you. Once you have decided what you would like from our vendors’ selection list, a market volunteer pick up the items requested and return payment to the vendor.
Many of our favorite vendors are returning, along with some new faces. Come to the Athens Saturday Market to buy and eat local this summer. Our Farmers Market is a great way to help our local farmers and artisans through this difficult time and to continue showing the strength of our community.
