Athens Police Seeking Information On Robbery Suspect

robberyATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement asking for the help of the public for information on the suspect in a robbery :

This afternoon around 1:13 the police department received a call that an individual had been robbed at the Chevron station on US 31 at Elm Street. When officers arrived the victim said he was at the Chevron station when a white male offered to give him a ride to a grocery store to buy food and other items. The victim accepted the offer and the suspect and victim left going west on Elm Street. They then went north on Elkton Road for a short distance when the driver pulled a hand gun and ordered the victim to give him all his money. The driver did as he was told. The suspect then pulled the car over and ordered the victim out. The victim said the car left going north on Elkton Road, a short time later the vehicle passed the him going south on Elkton Road. The victim walked back to the Chevron to call the police department. The victim was not hurt in the incident.
The suspect was driving a possible 2002 white Honda Civic 2 door with a spoiler on the back. The suspect is a white male and he walks with a limp. He was wearing a black Alabama hoodie sweat shirt, khaki pants and flip-flops. If anyone has any information about the suspect were asking them to call Sergeant Johnny Campbell at 256-233-8700.”
