ATHENS-The Athens Police Department released a statement concerning a shooting that took place on Tuesday. An arrest has been made in this case and the firearm used has been recovered:
“On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at approximately 12:45 pm, a woman ran to the Athens Fire & Rescue Station located at the intersection of Hine Street and West Washington Street. She reported some type of trouble at her nearby residence.
Officers with the Athens Police Department responded to the 1000 block of West Washington Street. They were directed to a man who had been shot in the foot. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance. One individual has been detained and will be questioned about this incident.
On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 5:45 pm, Adan Osvaldo Herrera Chajal, (23, of Athens) was arrested for Assault in the First Degree. This follows the shooting that happened earlier that day, where a man was shot in the foot. The weapon used in this crime was recovered.”
