Athens Police Looking For Hit-And-Run Driver

ATHENS-Floyd Johnson, Athens Police Chief is asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run accident with injuries on Wednesday, April 4:

Last night (Wednesday, April 4) around 9:00 the police department was notified of an accident involving a motorcycle at the intersection of US 31 and Freeman Drive.

When officers arrived they learned the motorcycle was traveling north on HWY 31 and a maroon vehicle had turned in front of the motor cycle causing the accident. The vehicle had left the scene of the accident before officer arrived and according to witnesses the driver never stopped. The driver of the motorcycle was treated by Athens Fire and Athens Limestone Ambulance Service before being flown to Huntsville Hospital by Med-Flight.

Currently investigators are looking for a maroon vehicle with damage on the passenger side. The investigation into this accident is continuing at this time. Investigators are asking anyone with any information about this accident to call the police department at 256-233-8700.”
