ATHENS-There are students in our community who not only follow good examples, they lead by being good examples.
To honor these students, the Athens Police Department’s SROs have created the “Above and Beyond Excellence Award.”
The award is for those who make that extra effort to support and enhance their community and schools.
Chief Anthony Pressnell and SRO Fred Millward recently presented an “Above and Beyond Award” to Julian Newman Elementary student Luke McCravy.
Millward said before Fall Break, Luke was at his uncle’s house, when they saw a fire involving a fence at the neighbor’s house. Millward said Luke showed “great character” by not running away. Instead, Luke assisted with the dragging of a water hose so his uncle could get the fire under control.
We are proud of Luke and the example he set, and we look forward to sharing more stories about the amazing students in our schools!
