ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning the arrest of two suspects on Saturday, January 19. The two suspects have been charged with 82 counts of Encoded Data Fraud:
“Saturday evening Juhl Frederik and Viorel Florinel Ivanica were arrested on 82 counts of encoded data fraud.
Bank personal had alerted officers to a theft occurring at the HWY 72 East locations. When officers Mac McWhorter and Sgt. Daniel McNatt arrived they found Frederik and Ivanica with 82 credit type cards. The information on the cards had been
changed at some point. This allowed Frederik and Ivanica to obtain cash from the ATM.
Both suspects were interviewed by Investigators Johnathan Caldwell and Jarrod Smith. The suspects were booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.
The investigation into this case is continuing and we can’t release any more information at this time.”
