ATHENS-Athens has three great opportunities for you to give back to your community all during United Way’s Week Of Caring.
United Way is kicking off its Stuff the Bus campaign on Aug. 26 and it will go through Sept. 30. The flyer lists drop off locations for new and gently used books. The books will be distributed to children in Athens and Limestone County.
Athens Arts League is joining United Way’s Week of Caring and hosting an art supplies drive at High Cotton Arts from Aug. 24 through Sept. 21. The flyer lists supplies needed. The supplies will go to support art programs at Ardmore Boys and Girls Club, a Blue Springs Elementary kindergarten class, the 6th grade STEAM program at East Limestone, and the Student Studio at High Cotton.
The Family Resource Center is kicking off its first meeting for its new Coordinated Community Response of Limestone County program. (Flyer attached). That meeting will be at the center on Aug. 29 at noon. The purpose of this program is to have a collaborative team dedicated to the prevention and awareness of sexual and domestic violence. Health care professionals, law enforcement, non-profits, community stakeholders and concerned citizens are all welcome to attend.
