ATHENS-Athens Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at Windsor Apartments on Garrett Drive off Elm Street at 3:08 p.m. today.

The fire started upstairs in one of the units in the 300 building. The cause is undetermined.

Capt. Jeff Jones said no one was injured. Firefighters did resuscitate a family’s cat that was overcome with smoke. Firefighters used an oxygen mask on the cat.

Two units are a loss. Two more units have heavy water damage. The occupants of the entire building are displaced because power had to be disconnected.

Firefighters who initially responded called in two additional engines to help fight the fire.
